Southbank is the side of the river Melbourne dresses up for. Within about a kilometre you have the Arts Centre and its spire, Hamer Hall, NGV International across St Kilda Road, the Melbourne Recital Centre, Malthouse Theatre and Crown, and above all of it the towers where a good many of our clients live. Crown, and the nights built around it

The other gravity well in Southbank is Crown, and the restaurants, bars and hotels stacked around it. Those evenings run late, they run long, and they very often end somewhere other than where they started.

That is a driven job rather than a self-drive one. It removes the parking, the car park exit queue and the question of who is staying sober, and it means the group can move from dinner to a bar to home without three separate arguments about rideshares. Southbank is dense and vertical, and delivering cars to it is a specific skill. Basement clearance, visitor bays, loading zones with a fifteen-minute limit, a concierge who needs to know you are coming. We ask about all of it before the day.

The Southbank Promenade and the river path are among the more photographed backdrops in Melbourne, particularly at dusk with the city on the far bank. Plenty of weddings come through here between the ceremony and the reception for exactly that reason.

A Rolls-Royce is the traditional answer for that stretch and it still works. It is unhurried, it sits well in photographs, and it does not mind the slow crawl along the river while the light does its thing.

Around the corner
