Luxury Car Hire in South Yarra

South Yarra runs on a different clock to the suburbs around it. Toorak is quiet by ten, South Yarra is only getting going. It is the one pocket of Melbourne where a supercar parked outside a restaurant reads as completely normal, which makes it far and away the busiest corner of our map.

Two streets, one suburb

Everything here hangs off Chapel Street and Toorak Road. Chapel brings the bars, the restaurants and the late finishes; Toorak Road brings the boutiques, the long lunches and the espresso at eleven on a Saturday. Between and behind them sit the apartment towers, the art deco blocks and the terraces where most of our clients actually live.

Drop a street south and the mood changes again. Como House and its gardens sit above Como Park, Fawkner Park is a few minutes west, and the Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Road are a short run from there. It is a small suburb that gives you several different evenings to choose from.

Parking, though, is the one thing South Yarra does badly. Permit zones, two-hour limits, tram tracks down both spines and basements designed around a hatchback, all within a few hundred metres of the busiest strips in the inner south. That is a large part of why we deliver and collect here rather than asking anybody to come to us.

Getting a car into your building

Apartment delivery is its own small skill, and we have done it often enough to have opinions.

• Basement clearance is the first question. Plenty of South Yarra car parks will not take a low supercar over the ramp lip.
• Loading zones out the front are usually the cleanest handover point, and we time the drop so we are not blocking anyone.
• Building access, fobs and visitor bays get sorted before the day, not on it.
• If you are on a busy stretch of Chapel Street, we will often suggest a quieter side street a block back.

The weekend that starts here

South Yarra is a very good place to start driving from. You are minutes from the Monash and a clear run to the Peninsula, an easy morning from the Great Ocean Road, and pointed straight at the Yarra Valley if the day calls for wineries instead of coastline. Our best scenic drives from Melbourne covers the routes worth the fuel.

For a lot of clients that is the whole appeal: the car is collected on Friday evening, driven properly on Saturday, and gone again on Sunday night without anyone having to think about parking permits.

Loud, or quiet

Both are on the table. Exotic car hire is the obvious one here, and a Lamborghini turning into Chapel Street does what you would expect it to do. Prestige is the other half of the story, and it suits the client who wants the good car without the audience.

If the occasion is closer to the city, Southbank and the CBD are ten minutes away over the river, and Toorak is the same distance in the other direction. The areas we serve page lists the lot.

Come to us with the dates, the delivery address and roughly what you have in mind, and we will come back with what we can bring, what it will cost for that car on those dates, and the bond, insurance and licence requirements in plain language. Pricing is not published because a Wednesday evening and a long weekend are different jobs.

Peak dates go early. Spring racing, the grand final, New Year's Eve and the warm Saturdays either side of Christmas are the ones that fill first, so if your date is fixed, ask sooner rather than later.
